Hello, CCON.  There are a number of wonderful upcoming SGA events.  The events include:

1) Backpacks for Kids volunteer opportunity.  Backpacks for Kids is a ministry at Fort Hill United Methodist Church that helps to provide food for needy children in our community to take home with them from school on Fridays.  Our job is to pack the bags of food at the church on Thursday evenings at 5:00 pm and then transport the bags to either Bass Elementary School or Dearington Elementary School.  It only takes about 1 1/2 hours to do this fun and awesome work.  There are also two Tuesday afternoons in April when volunteers are needed to help unload a food truck.  This job only takes about 30 minutes.  There will be sign up sheets on a table in the front hallway of the school.  Twelve volunteers are needed to pack food bags each Thursday in April (except April 9th) and four volunteers are needed on the Tuesdays to unload the truck.  Your loved ones are welcome and can be counted in the twelve.

2) SGA Annual Spring Family Picnic is planned for Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Peaks View Park small shelter from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.  The lunch will be catered by Silver Pig.  There will be inflatables for the children and the young at heart.  Come out and bring your family for a relaxing, social time together.  (The lunch will go on under the shelter even if it rains.)

3) Butterfly Hugs Project will also take place on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at T.C. Miller Elementary School at 9:00 am.  Volunteers are needed to help a group of students make a butterfly craft and write a note of encouragement that will be given to cancer patients.  This is a mission that is supported by Spirit FM radio station.  Jill Wood is leading this project.  If you would like to take part, please contact Jill (540-588-9731) or your class SGA representative.

4) Red Cross Blood Drive The second annual CCON Red Cross Blood Drive will be held in the student lounge on Friday, May 1, 2015.  This is a joint project with SNAV and SGA.  Look for more information and signs to schedule your blood donation as the date gets closer.

Thank you in advance for your participation.  Cathy Armes, SGA Faculty Advisor
